 A GREAT ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Amidst glorious sunshine and over 2000 viewers watching on, the Boyle St Patricks Day took place. Sincere thanks to all who entered the Parade which gave such enjoyment; to all who came out in such large numbers to support it; to the Businesses who contributed so generously to allow the Parade be organised; to our Judges, our Viewing stand, our MC for the day, our Music and Langans for the stand; our Stewards, and all who decorated the town & their premises to add to the festive atmosphere; to our Mascots who lead the parade,- taking time out from their studies; to the media and websites and to RTE for our national coverage. Special thanks to the committee for their hard work and a very warm welcome to the new members who joined the committee this year.

Daffodil Day 2016

The organisers of this year’s Daffodil Day in Boyle take this opportunity to say thank you to the collectors, the business people who allowed the collections to take place on their premises and who provided refreshments throughout the day, the staff and students of Abbey Community College, the staff and residents of both the Plunkett Home and Drumderrig Nursing Home and most importantly to the people who contributed so generously to this collection. The final amount collected was €6484.15.Thank you all for supporting this most worthy cause.

BRIGHT SPARKS

If you were there last year you’ll remember the great night of fun and entertainment, if not join us this year, and battle for the title of The Bright Sparks! Boyle chamber/Boyle TM are appealing to all Businesses, Societies, Clubs and individuals to come along on Good Friday to St Joseph’s Hall, March 25th at 8pm. All proceeds raised go to Boyle Christmas Lights, every one welcome to come along, Table of 4 - €40 but if you can’t make a table just come along and you’ll be sorted. PIKE ANGLING FESTIVAL

Boyle and District Angling Club will be holding their Pike Angling Festival Boat Competition on Saturday 26^th and 27^th March on Lough Key, Boyle commencing on Saturday at 11am until 6pm and Sunday at 10am until 5pm. Guaranteed Prize Fund will be €5,000 with the Overall first prize being €2,500 plus the Moonstone Jewellers Perpetual Cup, Saturday €1,175 and Sunday €1,175. Juniors must fish for Junior Prizes and be accompanied by a fee paying adult. Presentation of all Prizes will take place on Sunday 27^th March. Please note that all donations for refreshments at this year’s bar-b-q will go towards the  Doireann Martin fund. Doireann Martin from Frenchpark is five years old and on the 27th of November she was diagnosed with DIPG, an inoperable brain tumour with no survival rate. The funds raised will help ease the financial burden on the family and make it possible to enjoy the time they have with Doireann and do fun things she would like to do.

TAWNYTASKIN CENTRE

An Afternoon Tea will be held in Tawnytaskin Community Centre on Easter Sunday 27^th March as well as Monday 28^th March at 11 o’clock. Other attractions include local stalls, cake sale and Mini to you Fashion Show. For further information contact Mary on 086 8130 005 or Mary on 085 1618?

St JOSEPHS HALL EVENT

A Holistic & Angel Fair will take place in St Josephs Hall, Boyle on Monday 28th March from 12.00 to 5.00, also looking for local Holistic Therapists who are interested in promoting themselves and doing treatments on the day.

Free foundation cookery course

A Free Foundation Cookery Course organised by Role Skillnet will take place in Boyle from March 21^st until April 7th. The course is designed to prepare jobseekers for employment opportunities in the hospitality/nursing home and deli sectors. Places are also available for part-time workers on social welfare. Boyle Celtic Soccer Sisters

This Easter Boyle Celtic FC will host the FAI Soccer Sisters Camp. The camp is for girls of 7 to 12 years of age. It will take place at Boyle Celtic FC on the Monday and Tuesday 21st and 22nd March from 10am-2pm. Bookings can be made at https://payments.fai.ie/…/soccer-sisters-easter-camps-21-03. The camp will be run by fully qualified female coaches who are playing in the Women's National League. This is an ideal opportunity to introduce your daughter to the game or to help them to develop their skills further. Boyle Celtic have recently introduced U14 and U16 teams along with their U9 academy so it is hoped that initiatives such as the Soccer Sisters Camp can help the girls game to grow and prosper in the region.

Curlew Walkers outing on Sunday

The next meeting of the Curlew Walkers club will take place on Sunday 3^rd April, meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at 10am.The walk will take place at Creevy Pier (Donegal) Coastal and will be a Flat/ Grade B. Boyle, Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town

Gerry Whelehan, Branch Manager BOI, Boyle wrote: Bank of Ireland is delighted to announce that the ‘Enterprise town initiative’ will return to Boyle, following on from the success of 2015. A recent meeting was held in partnership with a local committee to discuss the various planned activities that will take place over Friday 1st April.  The aim of the initiative is to promote and drive momentum for SMEs in the locality while showcasing all that the town has to offer.

PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

The Apostolate of Eucharist Adoration invites all Parishioners on a special Year of Mercy Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine on Sunday 24^th April. There is a full programme organised for Adults, Teens and Children. The launch of a National Crusade of Prayer for Vocations will take place at the 3pm Mass. The programme begins at 11.30. Bishop Kevin Doran is the chief celebrant and homilist Fr Declan Hurley Adm, Navan, will give a talk on “Gazing at the face of Mercy” at 1.30 in the Basilica.

BOYLE GOLF CLUB

The Spring League got underway last weekend 12/13 March with some impressive scores being recorded. Team 6 (S Heslin, L Dwyer & T King) leads the way with 47 pts, followed closely by team 2 (N Kearney, P Conroy & A Gaughran) on 46 pts. In third place is team 11 (P Egan, P Connolly & S Mc Crann) on 43pts. A full league table can be viewed on the club’s website. Looking ahead, the club’s fundraising classic will take place over the Easter weekend. It’s a 4 person rumble, with the entry fee set at €60 per team. The online timesheet is now live, so members and visitors are encouraged to book their tee time through the club’s website. In other news, the club outing to Tullamore Golf Club will take place on Saturday April 2nd, with the first players teeing off at 11am. If you wish to go, please put your name on the sheet in the clubhouse or contact Michael Rush by March 26th at the very latest.
