Treasure Hunt
The annual St Stephen's Day
Treasure Hunt in aid of Hospice will take place in Lough Key Forest &
Activity Park on Tuesday 26th December at 2.30pm. Information sheets
will be given out in Answer the park and completed sheets to be handed in at
Clarke's Bar & Restaurant, St Patrick Street, Boyle where winners will be
announced.
Boyle GAA annual quiz
night
A very important date for
your diary is Wednesday December 27th – the date for the Annual GAA quiz and
presentation night. Pit your wits against the best quiz brains in Boyle and
surrounding areas for some very nice prizes. Player of the Year, Club person of
the Year and Hall of Fame awards will be presented on the night and the
jubilant O’ Gara Cup winners will receive their medals from Boyle man and
County Board Chairman, Seamus Sweeney. A signed and mounted copy of one of Gaelic
Football’s iconic images of 2017 is one of the many attractive raffle prizes to
be won at the Quiz night. The picture, signed by Donal and Enda Smith
brilliantly captures the celebrations after the Connacht Senior Final. Boyle
GAA quiz night commences at 8pm and is always a great social occasion over the
Christmas period.
FUN RUN & WALK
Lough Key Forest Park will
be the venue for a 5k Fun Run and Walk for Children with Autism taking place on
Wednesday 27th December at 2pm with registration taking place at
1.30. Supporting Education and Communication for those living with Autism. For

BOYLE GOLF CLUB
The Clubs Christmas Bonanza
Competition was played on Sunday the 17th of December. Shane Loftus came 1st in
the men’s competition with 32 points, the next 3 places in the men’s section
went to David Purser, Terry Canning and Ross Andrew, who each had 31 points and
were separated only on countback. Ruth Hogg won the ladies’ section with Carmel
McGarry in 2nd place. 3rd and 4th went to Paula Cull and Moira Egan
respectively. At the prize-giving Men’s Captain Terry Canning presented Patrick
Egan with a trophy for topping the order of merit for Golfer of the Year 2017. Raffle
prizes were won by Michael Simon, Michael Rush, Patrick Egan, Susan O’Mahoney,
Michael Gilmartin, Jonathan Egan and Marie Gallagher. On the Wednesday 27th of
December a Christmas 9 hole Ladies and Gents Scramble will take place. Names
need to be in for the draw for teams at 12.45 with a shotgun start at 1pm..
Women’s Little Christmas
The 4th "Women’s Little Christmas " Black Dress Ladies Lunch
takes place on Sunday the 7th January 2018 in the beautiful setting of Kilronan
Castle, Ballyfarnon, Co. Roscommon. Guest speaker on the day is the
inspirational Nikki Bradley. MC on the day is Eileen Magnier who is a voluntary
member of the Board of Directors of North West Simon Community. Tickets are €45 and make an ideal Christmas gift for
your Mum, Daughter, Sister, Niece or Auntie!! Tickets are available from Mary

Boyle Christmas
Lights Draw
The Christmas Lights team
thank sincerely all who gave of their time and expertise to the Switching on of
the Lights in Boyle this year - Boyle Fire Service, DJ Dermot, the Fishing
Club, Gardaí, Boyle Scouts, Winners of
the Art Competition, Abbey Community College Transition Year students, the many
volunteers who assisted on the day and last but not least the man himself - Santa.
The Christmas Lights team are appealing to all businesses to promote the Raffle
Cards (for funding the lights) over the coming days with €1000+ cash prizes to
be won. The draw will take place on 5th January. One of the team of Brian,
Dara, Mervyn, Tish, Liz, Deirdre, Tony, Brendan or Siobhan will be calling on
you week of 2nd January to collect your
completed cards. The team of volunteers who have been fundraising for the town
lights over the last number of years appeal to you to have your cards and/or
subscription ready for collection. Our Christmas Lights have cost over €30000
with an annual running cost of almost €4000. Fundraising through the Christmas
Raffle and the Good Friday Quiz are the
only means of paying for our lights and ensuring Boyle looks spectacular at
this festive time. The Lights crew thank you for your continued support.
Town Team AGM
Annual General Meeting of
Boyle Town Team is scheduled to take place on Thursday January 11th
at 6.30 in Boyle Enterprise Centre
BOYLE PRIMARY CARE TO OPEN IN JANUARY
Senator Frank Feighan has received confirmation from
the HSE that the new Boyle Primary Care Centre will open to the public for
services on Tuesday, January 9th. “The delays regarding the HSE’s
operational timelines have been disappointing but I can
categorically state that the state-of-the-art facility will now open on this
date. “The day before the centre’s official opening, there will be an open day.
Courtyard Market
The
Market takes place every Saturday in the Grounds of King House, Boyle from 10am
until 2pm...If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic
produce, then a trip to the Courtyard Market should be on your agenda. There is
a wide range of seasonal produce, Vegetarian hot meals to eat here or take home
as well as organic fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and marmalade, organic free-range
eggs, sour dough/ spelt bread and all kinds of delicious home bakes are
available every week. Alongside the food stalls are a number of crafters
selling their handmade wares. So why not come along and have a chat with the
