Boyle Community Notes Week beginning 23rd August July (Week 34)

Boyle Chamber lotto Winner
Boyle Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Teresa McQuaid of Deerpark, Boyle who was the lucky winner of last Monday night’s lotto. Teresa receives the Jackpot of €2540 for her lucky numbers, and is a regular supporter of Boyle Chamber Lotto. The previous Monday night’s winner was Sheila Ryan who won the jackpot of over €18000. Thanks again to all the weekly supporters of Boyle Chamber Lotto. Lotto Tickets can be purchased in any of our shops in Boyle for €2 and the draw takes place every Monday night at 11.00pm in our local pubs.
300 YEars of History Museum
Visit King House Georgian Mansion and Museum between Sunday 21st of August to Sunday 28th of August to avail of free admission for children accompanied by an adult. In celebration of Heritage Week children will get a free activity sheet along with the opportunity to see 300 years of history including the Connaught Rangers exhibition, President Mary McAleese collection – Intertwined and the Maureen O’Sullivan

Monastic Ireland
Monastic Ireland - A gift of the Nile! An illustrated talk tracing Mediterranean and North African influences on early Irish Christianity. Wheelchair Hurling
Boyle will play host to the first round of the GAA Interprovincial Wheelechair Hurling League on Saturday 27th August. It will be the first time that an All-Ireland Wheelchair Hurling event will be hosted in Co. Roscommon. The event will take place in the Sports Complex in the grounds of Abbey Community College.
Traditional Singing and Music
Traditional Singing and Music will take place in the Cloister of Boyle Abbey on Sunday 28th of August between 2.00pm and 5.00pm in celebration of Heritage Week.
All singers, musicians, storytellers, dancers and listeners welcome! "If you feel like singing, do sing an Irish Song".
Jiving Lessons
Get your dancing shoes on!! Jiving Lessons with Colm Butler will begin on Wednesday 31st August in Tawnytaskin Community Centre. Classes will take place every Wednesday for 4 weeks until 21st September from 8.30pm to 10.00pm. Contact Una Bhan Tourism on 071 966 3033 for more information.

Boyle Yoga shack returns with a jam packed Autumn timetable. Mondays: Ladies Beginner’s - 6.45pm to 7.45pm, Ladies Improver’s – 8.15pm to 9.15pm. Tuesdays: Morning Flow – 9.45am-10.45am, Gentle Flow – 11.30am to 12.30pm, Lunch Time Beginners – 1.10pm to 1.50pm, Men’s Yoga – 7.00pm to 8.00pm. Wednesdays: Early Bird – 7.00am to 8.00am, Lunch Time Improvers – 1.10pm to 1.50pm, Pregnancy Yoga – 7.00pm to 8.15pm. Thursdays: Beginners (Mixed) - 7.00pm to 8.00pm, Improvers (Mixed) – 8.30pm to 9.45pm. Fridays: All Levels (Moylurg Room, Forest Park) – 10.00am to 11.00am. Tai Chi

SECRET GARDENS
Created by two artists in an intimate rural setting, this garden combines productivity, ornamental planting and permaculture. Winding grass paths lead to ponds, developing woodland and polytunnel, one jungle-themed and one for fruit and veg. With an eclectic mix of planting and sculpture, this 16 year old garden is still developing. Open 11am until 5pm on 11th September. On R361 Boyle – Frenchpark, Right after Saddlers Inn. BOYLE FITNESS CLUB
Boyle boxing club will open every Tuesday at 7.30, mixed classes until September new members welcome.
Boyle Traditional Singers Circle
Traditional unaccompanied singing, in English and Irish takes place in Dodd’s Crescent Bar (back room), The Crescent, Boyle the third Saturday of every month, all year around, 9.30pm onwards. All singers and listeners welcome.
Boyle Golf Club News
The 9 hole stableford on Sunday 14th of August was won by Pat Conroy with 22pts, in second place was Jonathan Egan with 20pts, while in third position was Cian Smith with 20pts. 
The men’s 9 hole stableford open on Thursday 11th August was won by Owen Garvin with 22pts, in second was Seamus Gallagher also with 22pts and in third was Liam Whyte with 21pts. 
The Boyle Courthouse Classic which was originally scheduled for Saturday 6th August has now been postponed until the October Bank Holiday Weekend. 
COURTYARD MARKET
The Market is open from 10am to 2pm each and every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle. If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to Boyle Farmers’ Market on Saturday should be on your agenda. There is a wide range of seasonal produce, including organic fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and marmalade, organic free range eggs, fruit juices, gluten free/ sour dough/ spelt bread and all kinds of delicious home bakes are available every week. Alongside the food stalls are a number of crafters selling their handmade wares, personalized candles and knitwear.
